MAKE AND BREAK side table — 2025
Inspired by and an ode to Ricardo Bofill’s Walden 7 from 1975 in Sant Just Desvern, to the west of Barcelona.
In the series of functional objects entitled "MAKE AND BREAK", the characteristic features of the chosen material are literally visually revealed.
Cement-bonded fiberboard is a composite panel that combines the strength of cement with the flexibility of wood. The material does not break like wood, nor like concrete. The fracture line has become the visual hallmark of this series.
Parts are built up in layers into one piece - MAKE - and then separated by manually breaking them apart - BREAK.
The MAKE AND BREAK series showcases the use of a grater. The tool evens out the layers and leaves its mark, giving the surface a rough, unpolished appearance.
The side table consists of 4 separate axismetric components, which can be used to create different arrangements.
Constructed from one-piece layers, waterjet cut cement-bonded fiberboard, manually grated, water-based lacquered.
